Culinary Pastry School

Do you delight in creating appetizing delicious desserts from scratch? If so, a career as a pastry chef might be perfect for you. By attending a culinary pastry school you can get the education you need. Unlike other culinary schools, pastry schools focus on the creation of pastries and dessert items. Depending on the program you choose, you can expect to study for around a year. Sometimes the duration of the course is shorter or longer based on the school and the particular program you have decided upon. There are schools all over the world that can help you obtain the training and credentials you need to work as a professional pastry chef.

While there may be some book work involved, the bulk of your education will take place in a kitchen so you can get the hands-on experience you need. Studying and reading on the subject of pastry creation can give you a strong foundation, but nothing can replace practicing your craft with an instructor to lead you. You will also get to practice and learn with other students in your class. Many students find culinary school not only educational but enjoyable as well. You may build lasting connections and friendships in addition to valuable career skills.

One of the most prestigious pastry schools is the French Culinary Institute, located in New York. This school offers a pastry chef course that spans six months if you attend full days or nine months if you attend evening classes. In addition to offering education for aspiring chefs, the FCI also offers classes and programs for amateurs who want to improve their skills. According to the curriculum schedule offered by the school you will learn how to make classic pastries, cakes, chocolate candies, petit fours, bread, sugar decorations and much more.

There are plenty of other schools for you to consider as well. There are International Culinary Schools which offer pastry chef programs located in states such as California, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, Nevada and more. There are also culinary pastry school programs in Europe for those who want to study abroad. Once you complete your education in pastry arts you will be ready to begin a rewarding career making unforgettable desserts for your clients. The salary you will earn depends upon many factors, including where you work and how much experience you have in the industry.
